How to Mark your Swimmer
Before each meet, we will send out the meet entries sheet and the meet program. The entries sheet lists all swimmers in alpha order and their events. You will write these entries on the swimmer's forearm or thigh so they can see at a glance what they are swimming. The meet program shows all swimmers but in event order.
When you mark your swimmer for his/her events, it will look like a grid labeled like this:
E H L S
E = event number, H= heat number, L=lane number, S=stroke
Example:
E H L S
1 1 2 (4) Free Relay
13 1 4 Back
25 2 4 100 IM
47 1 2 (2) Medley Relay
In this example, the first event is 1; she will be in heat 1 and in lane 2. Since this is the 100 Freestyle Relay, there is a number in parentheses after the lane number. This number tells you the order of the swimmers in the relay. She will be swimming the 4th leg of the relay.
Her 2nd event is 13, she is in heat 1, lane 4, swimming the backstroke.
Her 3rd race is event 25 and is the IM or Individual Medley. She will be in heat 2, lane 4. She will do all four strokes in this event in a specific order. The stroke order for the IM is butterfly, back, breast, free.
Her last event is 47, heat 1, lane 2, swimming the 2nd leg of the medley relay. Medley Relay order is back, breast, butterfly, free.
Also, please be sure to write your child's name on his/her back or shoulder so the Ready Bench parents place them correctly in the meet.
If there is a change in swimmer in any event, either the swimmer or the ready bench needs to tell the timer his/her name so they can change it on the time card.
